Ecosystems — Fiche d'exercices de Grade 4 Science
An ecosystem is a community of living organisms interacting with each other and their nonliving environment — sunlight, water, soil, and air.
Producers (plants and algae) make their own food through photosynthesis. Consumers eat other organisms. Decomposers break down dead matter and return nutrients to the soil.
Food chains show energy flow from one organism to the next. Food webs show overlapping chains in a community. Energy decreases at each level — only about 10% transfers to the next trophic level.
Compétences travaillées
- Identifying producers, consumers, and decomposers
- Building and reading food chains
- Understanding energy flow
- Describing habitat roles

-
8.
Réponse finale : decomposer
-
9.
Réponse finale : herbivore
-
10.
Réponse finale : Decomposers break down dead plants and animals, returning nutrients to the soil so new plants can grow.
Erreurs fréquentes à éviter
- Calling all animals producers
- Reversing arrow direction in food chains (arrows point to who gets eaten)
- Forgetting decomposers in food webs
- Confusing habitat with ecosystem
