Theme Analysis — Fiche d'exercices de High School English
A theme is the central message or insight about life that a literary work conveys — not a single word topic, but a complete idea such as "courage requires facing fear" rather than just "courage."
Themes are inferred from patterns: repeated symbols, character choices, conflicts, and outcomes. A strong theme statement applies beyond the specific plot to real life.
Topic is what the story is about (love, war); theme is what the author says about that topic. Multiple themes may coexist, but one is usually dominant.
